The ASTM F468 standard specifies the criteria for commercial wrought nonferrous bolts, hex cap screws, and studs made of a variety of common alloys for general service applications. Bolts, cap screws, and studs must be made of material with a chemical composition that meets the required standards. The fasteners must be made of acceptable material and cold formed, hot formed, or machined. The following mechanical qualities of fasteners must be determined by various tests: hardness, tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation.
