The ASTM F836M specification defines the chemical and mechanical criteria for Metric Hex Nuts, Square Nuts, and Flange Nuts with nominal thread sizes of M1.6 to M36, which are intended for use in engineering applications that require general corrosion resistance. Three austenitic (Grades A1, A2, and A4), one ferritic (Grade F1), three martensitic (Grades C1, C3, and C4), and one precipitation hardening stainless steel alloy are covered (Grade P1). There are nine austenitic, one ferritic, six martensitic, and one precipitation hardening property classes covered.
